Small (20-seats) venue. Few interesting and exciting Dishes on regular menu, and Specials. 👍 Excellent efforts on Vegetarian Menu. 👍👍TIGERS EYES (stuffed grilled squid) is an original dish. 👏 Maybe others have KAKI MAKI (fried oyster), but it's my FIRST here. They are done well.SERVICE is short (not much chat) and sweet in a way that "Only Tea" drinkers were seated on a cold night while they wait for the bus. VERY few places are open in this area after 9 pm. KINDNESS is precious and endearing. ❣️Btw, this dinky venue has the decency and thoughtfulness to share a multi-use clean restroom. 🤗I look forward to taste testing the rest of the menu!🤤
This is my second time here because my first experience was amazing! I came in on a whim for lunch on a Friday. Not a huge place but the quality is outstanding. I was greeted as soon as I walked in and while I was looking over the menu I didn't see something I had a craving for but they asked me what it was and made it anyway! And the crazy part is it was better than i had before! The chef was so polite and professional not to mention fast! I will definitely be back again and would suggest it to everybody who loves sushi!
This is a very small place but the chef and his staff will always cater your needs I love their sahimi platter, and their rolls always have very easy rice. Additionally this is a BYOB which makes it even better, one last statement their lunch menu is very cost effective.
Keeping my sushi fix in check through quarantine! Great food and service. Highly recommend!
My absolute go-to sushi when visiting Chicago. Not that it’s a competition, but these guys match up to any great sushi place in LA or NY, and they do it in a very subtle and cool way. And wow that Crunchy Salmon Roll! Many thanks guys!
One of my main places to eat. fantastic location, neat, and awesome customer service. Highly recommended!
This was a pleasant surprise! I'm giving it four stars only because it's been a while since I've been to an undisputably good sushi restaurant, so I don't want to overclaim. But, I thought the sushi was, in fact, delicious. We ordered the "Sushi C" combo, which was varied and generously sized, as well as the "Volcano," which is not sushi (it's baked scallops with a delicious, creamy a d slightly spicy sauce) but is their signature dish. The menu offers a variety of sushi and sashimi a la carte, of course. Will definitely go back!!! Pro tip: it's BYOB.
Made space for us on a busy Saturday night during zoo lights. Great people here.
Went in for a caviar or and while I waited I decided to try their tea. Was going to pay but they gave to me for free. Tea was pretty good.
Soggy sushi rice. Good variety of roll.
Very small space but food is professional. The ramen special fed two of us and was delicious. Very exotic taste with shiitake and bamboo notes. Great sushi rolls and even steamed rice for our toddler. We're very glad we tried this spot and will be back.
Everything was delicious and fresh. Ikura sushi was one of the best I've tried in Chicago so far! The place itself is not very big but the atmosphere is cosy and welcoming. The staff is very polite and friendly as well.
Nice cozy place. Taste is ok.
Highly recommended for sushi lover. Test is great and I am impress every single dish. You should try tigger eyes. I saw this one is so popular that another customers order. I really love it! Also volcano with spicy mayo sauce on top. Do not missed to try it. Btw, Hirame Ponzu is my fav. !!
Excellent place to grab a bit to eat.Was treated extremely well ánd food was 1st class. Hope to be back again or have Japanese food of same quality.
First time trying Green Tea with my husband and it was awesome! The staff was very friendly and attentive. The place is very small but has a cozy vibe. Sushi is very affordable and tastes great. BYOB places like this are always a plus! I will definitely be recommending this restaurant, as well as coming back again.
Excellent seasonal menu and great service. Highly recommended!
Perfect all around. Love it! Always very fresh fish , perfect rice. Our choice for sushi. We try something else and always come back here. Food is reliably great and fairly priced. Friendly staff. BYOB. Highly recommended! If you order takeout, allow enough time, it will take a bit.
Personal service, not overpriced, fresh delicious food.
I alway like that place but today when I come pick up my order was not exactly that I order. I don’t want to argue with the guy who take my order But I say that’s not I was order , he say it is and not even say sorry. I was not happy when I left because I always order from them but after today not will be back ..
My favorite sushi spot in Chicago! Very affordable and always fresh. The lunch specials are awesome! Friendly, family oriented environment. Small and very cozy!
The sushi really good, the servers very friendly, l love this place.
Very fresh tasty sushi
Expensive regarding the quality and the quantity. 3.5usd for a single sashimi or sushi....
Terribly slow with pick-up. They told order will be ready to pick up in 30 mins. Meanwhile, some people were waiting for an hour. And guess what?! It wasn't ready in 30 mins.
great place but there's barely any parking in the afternoons
It was great. The service was on it and the sushim was the best pieces I have had in Chicago.
Delicious food and quick service. Plenty on vego options
So fresh and cozy...plus service with kindness and sincerity that seems rare. Perfect for date night or family.
Green Tea was a last minute stop on my walk home. Fresh ingredients, menu felt a little limited with a lot of the specialty maki rolls feeling very similar. The green tea was good as well, waitress gave me a complementary refill. No real complaints other than the limited menu.
Great food, nice people, and the server chased me down to return my book bag.
Simple, quality spot. Reminds me of the little restaurants in Japan.
Fresh seafood. Sashimi is nicely cut. My go to sushi place in town. Must Visit!
Please trust me when I say this is the best sushi you will ever eat. The food at this place is truly art, and the atmosphere is so peaceful. I do not visit Chicago without making a trip to Green Tea.
Nice, quiet, little sushi place. Get the sushi box for lunch
This restaurant is my favorite place. Of all restaurants I know I favor it most. I never miss an opportunity to go to visit this restaurant. when I I need a good meal, this place comes immediately to my head. good and diverse food and a rich cuisine.well mannered staff, and good atmosphere. In addition to that, the pay is fair. I tell about this place with no doubt.
I love coming here for small workday lunches. They have great lunch specials, fantastic sushi, and attentive staff. It’s a small place, so small groups are best!
This place is amazing!! So much good food!! Chicago spicy crazy dragon, tiger eyes oh my gosh soooo amazing love watching cooks prepare it too!! And huge portions! Love it!
Green Tea is my favorite hole in the wall sushi place in Chicago. The quality of everything is wonderful, the prices are extremely reasonable, and it is quite cozy. BYOB.
Our to go sushi restaurant! The fish is top quality - it's not all you can eat like the restaurant down the street but it's very affordable and MUCH better taste! The lunch set is a steal. The lady at the counter is super nice as well. Would recommend to anyone who lives in the neighborhood!
Some of the best sushi I have ever eaten. Everything you try is delicious, and the presentation is beautiful! Also love the BYOB.
Small Thai Sushi restaurant allows BYOB. Sushi rice is on the sweet side(too sweet for our taste), fish is fresh, but food quality isn't consistent, maybe due to their management changed. Service is still great.
The food was amazing! Service was great. Definitely coming here again and with more people.
Great food! Would recommend!
Great quality sushi and friendly service
My go-to sushi place. Love everything about it.
Not a bad little sushi place if you live in the area! Good service and decent food. I prefer Kamahachi quality of food, but Green Tea is family owned, friendly and less expensive. Only about 3 or 4 tables, but I've never had a wait. This is my mom's favorite place and enjoy going with her. Street parking only so plan for that.
AMAZING SUSHI!! Good service and really affordable lunch specials.
The sushi here was really, really good, the service was outstanding, and the prices were reasonable. Be warned that there are very few seats inside!
Crunchy Roll and Spicy Tuna. Been amazing for 19 years and counting.
